Swallow
Spring/Summer 1995. The iconic McQueen swallow was revealed in “The Birds”, Lee Alexander McQueen’s show inspired by Hitchcock’s film. Infamous corsetiere, Mr Pearl, made his way down the runway, emblazoned with an intimidating flock of black swallows. Each one stood out against a background of blood red; threatening, menacing.
Since then, the swallow has become a recurring symbol for McQ. Building on the original motif, artist Tom Tosseyn reimagined the swallow in 2016, giving it a fresh yet edgy, contemporary feel.
Unfolding over the coming seasons, the Swallow Collection depicts the evolution of one of the house’s most recognisable icons.
